Where is Coral Bay

I first went to Coral Bay in 1975 when we had some car trouble navigating the dirt track from Ningaloo Station (sheep) to Cape Range National Park. All that was there in those days was the service station run by a grumpy old fellow who'd been too long away from civilisation. There was also the pub! And that started a love affair that I've had with the place ever since. It has been well and truly discovered by the "tourist" now but I know I share the sentiments of many who actually regard the place as their own property to be cherished!

The distance from Perth to Coral Bay is approximately 1100kms. Generally speaking, the drive takes 12 hours.
Learmonth airport is 110kms to the North. Flights are daily and often twice per day. A hire car is one way to get down to the town. Otherwise, it is possible to arrange for one of the local business's to pick you up. Exmouth is the nearest town. It was a submarine base and American Communication Facility during the "Cold War". When I first started to stay in Coral Bay, if there was anyone in the bar, then it was usually an American serviceman. The bar is no longer so quiet.... but still the most wonderful spot in the world to enjoy a cold beer!
There are many things to see and do in Coral Bay as I hope the images here will show. It is still one of the pristine wonders of the world, in my view. So if you chose to go and have a look, please treat it with respect!
